Présentation du Colloque :
L’interpellation est directement impliquée dans les relations interindividuelles quotidiennes, verbalisées ou non, et s’inscrit dans l'improvisation de l’interlocution de la même manière que dans les pratiques ordinaires d’enseignement. Au sens linguistique, cette notion, dont la judiciarisation a contribué à en restreindre le sens et à en diminuer l'utilisation, renvoie toutefois à un certain nombre d’opérations et de catégorisations qu’il est difficile de mettre tout à fait à l’écart du champ de l’apostrophe et des interjections (ainsi que du vocatif), mais aussi ceux, plus généraux, de la nomination (Noailly 1995, Détrie 2007), de la désignation/référence (Schegloff, in Stivers et Enfield 2007) et de la topicalisation (Lambrecht 1998). De même, si l’on se place du point de vue de la structure prédicative de l’énoncé (Scheppers 1999, inter alii), le positionnement de l’interpellation en termes de prédication seconde mérite d’être consulté plus avant, d'autant qu'envisagée comme telle ou non dans les relations qu'elle entretient avec les appellatifs (Hammermüller 1997, Pop 2000), les désignations connotées (Lagorgette 2003, Lopez-Muñoz, Marnette et Rosier 2004, O'Kelly 2005) et les constructions appositives (Neveu 2000, Forsgreen, Jonasson et Kronning 1998), celle-ci apparaît quoi qu'il en soit comme un objet de recherche difficile à cerner. Qui plus est, l'interpellation implique une manière de rendre le destinataire présent non seulement dans ce qui réfère à lui, mais aussi dans la forme elle-même que prend le discours qui l'interpelle. En effet, les travaux sur l'interaction ont contribué, depuis les années 1960, à la prise en compte de la manière dont l'interpellé est désigné (Schegloff 1979), mais aussi à celle du propos qui lui est adressé (recipient designed). De ce fait, il convient également d'envisager les cas où l'interpellation appartient au « cadre figuratif de l'énonciation », par le biais notamment de l'intimation, catégorie dans laquelle Benveniste place les ordres, ainsi que les appels « impliquant un rapport vivant et immédiat de l'énonciateur à l'autre » (1977, V). Par ailleurs, et là les faits se compliquent un peu plus, il importe sans doute de se prononcer, même de manière intermédiaire, sur l’éventuel statut illocutoire, et dans tous les cas socio-pragmatique de l’interpellation.
Au sens didactique, celle-ci présente un enjeu tout à fait spécifique. Action courante de ce que l’on pourrait appeler la « vie de classe », l’interpellation entre élèves, mais aussi entre les élèves et l’enseignant, pose la question d’une éventuelle gradation, ne serait-ce que sur le plan de ce que les textes officiels appellent « l’oral désordonné » (cf. Bertucci et David 2003). Représentée dans sa dimension socio-pragmatique, l'interpellation s’inscrit à ce titre dans la problématique d'un schéma participatif (avec ses paramètres de distanciation et de proximité). En plus du fait qu'elle participe des actions verbales témoignant de certaines phases d'acquisition (Morrison et Ellis 1995, Spieler et Balota 2000), elle suppose aussi une réflexion, plus secondaire, sur l’alternance codique dans des classes spécifiques. Sans doute serait-il opportun, enfin, d’interroger la situation dans laquelle l’enseignant est pour ainsi dire interpellé sur ses pratiques au titre de l'individualisation des parcours, à l’appui, par exemple, des pratiques de formation qui consistent dans les entretiens « d’explicitation » (Vermersch 1994) et d’ « autoconfrontation » (Clot 1999).
Dans la droite ligne de ce qui a conduit certains acteurs de la recherche à réfléchir sur les enjeux de l'interjection (Strasbourg, 2004), y compris sur le plan modal avec Liana Pop, laquelle parle d'un « mode pragmatique appellatif / vocatif », de même que la répétition (journées d'études doctorales de Chambéry, avril 2007), la digression (Université d'El Manar, février 2006), la reformulation (Ibrahim et Martinot 2003 inter alli), ou sur des problématiques plus restreintes telle que la périphérie gauche (Paris, CNRS, décembre 2006), ce colloque est la première édition d’une série de manifestations qui renverront à la question plus générale des interventions verbales « spontanées », dans leur consistance à la fois épistémologique, ontologique et praxéologique. Dans cette vue, les questionnements induits peuvent être l'occasion de revenir sur certains points relevant spécifiquement de l'oral, plus exactement à l'appui de phénomènes d'ordres prosodique ou interindividuel, comme c'est le cas pour les sommations interpellatives par exemple. Les deux autres éditions de cette série porteront sur la problématique de l'imprécation/déprécation (2011), et, à l’horizon 2013, sur celle, plus générale, de l’intempestivité en discours.
Les actes des trois éditions (2008, 2011 et 2013) seront publiés par voie électronique, après avis du Comité scientifique, et une sélection d'articles intègrera une monographie dont la parution est prévue en 2013.

INTERPELLATION, LINGUISTIC AND DIDACTIC PROSPECTS

The interpellation is directly implied in interindividual relations, and concerns the improvisation of the interlocution in the same way as ordinary practices of teaching.
In linguistic sense, this concept, restricted in case of juridic context, refers however to several operations and categorizations which it is difficult to extract from the field of the apostrophe and the interjections (as well as vocative), but also those, more general, of nomination (Noailly 1995, Détrie 2007), designation/reference (Schegloff, in Stivers and Enfield 2007) and topicalisation (Lambrecht 1998). From a predicate structure point of view (Scheppers 1999), the positioning of the interpellation in terms of second predicate deserves to be more consulted, forwardly in the relations which it maintains with the appellatives (Hammermüller 1997, Pop 2000), connoted designations (Lagorgette 2003, Lopez-Muñoz, Marnette and Rosier 2004, O' Kelly 2005) and appositive constructions (Neveu 2000, Forsgreen, Jonasson and Kronning 1998). In these cases, the notion seems at all events an object difficult to define.
On the other hand, the interpellation suggests a presence of the recipient not only in what refers to him, but also in the very form the speech takes. Indeed, the works on interaction have contributed, since the years 1960, to the representation of the way in which challenged is indicated (Schegloff 1979), but also of the matter which is addressed to him (container designed). So it should be judicious to consider the cases where the interpellation belongs to the “stating figurative framework”, by the means of intimation, category in which Benveniste places the orders, as well as what he calls “implying a living and immediate report of the enonciator to the other” (1977, V). In addition, and here the facts become a little more complicated, it is undoubtedly important to debate, even in an intermediate way, on the socio-pragmatic dimension of the interpellation.
As regards didactics, this question presents a completely specific stake. Current action of what one could call the “classroom life“, the interpellation between pupils, but also between the pupils and the teacher, raises the question of a possible gradation, for instance on the plan of what the french official texts name “disordered oral” (cf. Bertucci and David 2003). Represented in its socio-pragmatic dimension, the interpellation fits for this reason in the problems of a participative scheme (with its parameters of distance and proximity). In addition to the fact that it takes part in the didactic reflexion for verbal actions testifying to certain phases of acquisition (Morrison and Ellis 1995, Spieler and Balota 2000), it supposes also an overall reflexion on code switching. Undoubtedly it would be convenient, finally, to refer to the situation in which the teacher is so to speak self challenged, with the support, for example, of the training practices which consist in talks of “explicitation” (Vermersch 1994) and “autoconfrontation” (Clot 1999), set up in Universitary french Institutes of teachers' training.
In the line of what certain actors of research reflect on the stakes of the interjection (Strasbourg, 2004), with a modal level with Liana Pop, who speaks about a “pragmatic mode appellative/vocative”, just as the repetition (days of doctoral studies of Chambéry, April 2007), the digression (University of El Manar, February 2006), the reformulation (Ibrahim and Martinot 2003 inter alii), or on more restricted problems such as the left periphery (Paris, CNRS, December 2006), this conference is the first edition of a series of three demonstrations which will return to the more general question of the verbal “spontaneous” interventions, in their epistemological, ontological and praxeologic consistency . In this sight, the induced questionings can be the occasion to reconsider a few points of oral, more exactly in support of prosodic or interindividual phenomenas, as it is the case for the interpellatives summations (with heckling or calling for example). The two other editions of this series will report to the problems of the imprecation (2011), and, by 2013, on that, more general, of untimeliness in speech. The present demonstration is thus articulated along inguistic and didactic axes, but it is obvious that those are not exclusive from others, and that they do not return to distinct sessions : the questions tackled in the both fields, between which many bonds exist, appear in many cases similar, even corollary. Namely that other tracks of reflexion, which would present a certain appropriateness from the point of view of the prospects opened by the Conference, could be possibly treated.
The acts of the three editions (2008, 2011 and 2013) will be published in electronic support, after a scientific Committee notification, and a selection of articles will integrate a monograph whose publication is foreseen in 2013.
